The Boomers Web Series recognizes the vitality and impact we all have in life, no matter our age. With that spirit, we want to recognize films that aren't afraid to cast older actors because there IS an audience out there for them!
2018 Movies for Grownups
The AARP recognizes that most Hollywood fare isn't intended for Boomer audiences. But they do recognize the talent behind the ones that do. Oscar nominees Saoirse Ronan Ronan and Willem Dafoe, Golden Globe winner Alfre Woodard, and other super famous folks are presenters for the AARP The Magazine's Movies for Grownups, honoring films with unique appeal to "movie lovers with a grownup state of mind as well as the artists who make them."
The 17th annual event will be televised Feb. 23 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check your local listings), as part of the network's Great Performances series.
Going in Style (2017)
Oscar winners Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin tamed up for a comedic heist film directed by Zach Braff. The trio decide to buck retirement and risk all by embarking on a daring bid to knock off a bank that absconded with their money. While the plot is fairly predictable, the actors’ talent and comedic chops are thoroughly worth the watch:
